A full-scale production of Beauty and the Beast is to be performed at the Questors theatre by Hanwell-based GLOC Musical Theatre Company.

This musical version of the original Disney film will include well known songs from the score with music by Alan Meken and lyrics from Howard Ashman and Time Rice including Be Our Guest and Beauty and the Beast performed with a live orchestra.

Beauty and the Beast tells the story of Belle, a spirited young woman who yearns to escape her life in a provincial town, and the Beast, who is really a young prince trapped under the spell of an enchantress. If the Beast can learn to love and be loved, the curse will end and he will be transformed into his former self. But time is running out. If the Beast does not learn his lesson before the last petal falls from an enchanted rose, he and his household will be doomed for all eternity.

The Beast’s enchanted household--populated by such beloved characters as Mrs. Potts, Lumiere, Cogsworth, and Chip-watch anxiously as Belle and the Beast grow to understand and befriend one another.

The show will feature a three-generation family including a grandmother (featured as a villager/tapper), her daughter (in her role as Fille de la Ville) and the sweet 8 year old niece (playing Chip). Also, the cast includes GLOC member Hugo who is approaching his 80s.

The production runs from Wednesday 14 to Saturday 17 May.

All tickets are £16.
