A scene from Kat’s Anatomy of Fear
November 2, 2026
A Hollywood illustrator has transformed his personal experience of living with Crohn’s disease into a new film designed to support and reassure people facing the condition for the first time.
Ronen Eytan, who has lived with Crohn’s disease for many years, worked with fellow filmmakers on a voluntary basis to create Kat’s Anatomy of Fear, a film that follows a fictional character’s journey from diagnosis and treatment through to coming to terms with the disease. The project was supported by St Mark’s Hospital in Park Royal, an internationally renowned specialist centre for colorectal disease.
The film combines live action and animation, taking viewers inside the body to show how Crohn’s disease affects the intestine and the challenges patients face. Crohn’s disease is a long-term condition that causes inflammation of the digestive system and, in some cases, can require surgery.
Ronen Eytan said he hopes the film can serve as an educational resource for newly diagnosed patients around the world.
He said: “I have generally received excellent care and support for Crohn’s but there wasn’t much support after my initial diagnosis which is when people need reassurance and support.
“It’s a scary time and the film is there to provide reassurance and show people they aren’t alone.”
Staff from St Mark’s Hospital were recently invited to attend the film’s first screening. The creators hope that by sharing both the physical and emotional realities of the condition, the film will help patients better understand their diagnosis and feel more confident about the future.
