A major fire broke out in the early hours of Tuesday morning (7 October) at a commercial premises on Dukes Road, Park Royal, prompting a large-scale response from the London Fire Brigade.
Eight fire engines and approximately 60 firefighters were dispatched following multiple emergency calls received at 3:16 AM. Crews from Acton, Park Royal, Ealing, Wembley, Willesden, Hammersmith, and Chiswick fire stations attended the scene, where a single-storey building used for laundry services was found ablaze.
The fire was brought under control by 5:37 AM, but crews remain on site to fully extinguish residual hotspots and carry out damping down operations. No injuries have been reported.
Residents and businesses in the vicinity were advised to keep windows and doors closed due to heavy smoke. The incident occurred near the westbound carriageway of the A40 Western Avenue, raising concerns about traffic disruption during the morning rush hour. Dukes Road remains closed, affecting access to nearby industrial units and logistics hubs.
Firefighters implemented a water relay system to maintain a continuous supply of water to the site. Appliances were strategically positioned between the fire and the nearest hydrant, connected by hose to pump water efficiently. A 32-metre turntable ladder from Wembley Fire Station was deployed as a water tower to tackle the blaze from above.
The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.
