A female passenger in a car travelling on the A40 has died after a collision which took place in the early hours of Monday morning (22 August).

The Range Rover in which she was an occupant was involved with a collision with a stationary Tesla at around 3.48am and left the road crashing onto the railway line near Park Royal station.

The woman, who was in her twenties, was pronounced dead at the scene despite the efforts of paramedics. She has yet to be formally identified by the police.

The driver of the Range Rover, a man in his twenties, is in a critical condition in hospital. Another female passenger, also in her twenties, has received injuries that are non-life-threatening.

A man, aged in his fifties, who is believed to have been with the Tesla, was treated for injuries that have been assessed as non life-threatening. It is believed that he was recharging his car at the time of the collision.

The Range Rover appears to have left the westbound carriageway before crashing through a railings and then through the forecourt of a Tesla dealership where there are charging stations. It then continued on breaking through another fence and onto the tracks.

The police have set up a cordon around the scene and say there are likely to be closures on the A40 Western Avenue for ‘a considerable period of time’.

The Piccadilly Line is currently suspended between Acton Town and Uxbridge and is expected to be out of action for much of the day.

Any witnesses yet to speak with police are asked to call 101, ref 905/22aug.
