Some eagle-eyed Actonw3.com readers have already noticed that Acton Police Station has been boarded up for the past couple of weeks. That's because the station is being renovated as part of the Met Police's estate strategy - Building Towards the Safest City.

The renovations, which will take some 18 months to complete, are designed to bring Acton Police Station up to the standards demanded by modern front-line policing.

Described as a 'complete makeover', the work will include a three storey extension to the rear, increased custody space for prisoners, more interview rooms and a new, specially adapted station office counter for the disabled, as well as improved disabled access at the front of the building.

Whilst the works are underway, there'll be some changes in the way that Acton is policed.

Operational and CID officers and CID officers have been re-housed at Ealing Police station. But they will only use Ealing Police Station at the beginning and end of their shift and will continue to patrol the Acton area as normal.

 

There will no 24-hour station office facility at Acton from next week. A temporary station office will be located at the side of the existing police building on Lexden Road j/w Horn Lane and this will be open daily from 6am – 10pm so that people can report crime, antisocial behaviour, produce documents and receive general advice.

 

Outside of these hours, people can either use the 999 service in case of an emergency or attend the station office at Ealing Police station, which is opened 24 hours.

A spokesperson told Actonw3.com: "the redevelopment of Acton Police Station will make Acton a safer place to work, live and pass through". He added that the renovations would have "a minimum effect on the way Acton is policed".
