There are to be night time closures of the A406 North Circular Road between Chiswick Roundabout and Gunnersbury Avenue this Bank Holiday weekend.

From 10pm on Saturday 25 May to 5am on Sunday 26 May there will be a full southbound closure. Then the following night from 10pm on Sunday 26 May to 5am on Monday 27 May a full northbound closure will be in place. This is to enable the removal of temporary metal barriers from the road and the installation of new traffic management. Pedestrians and cyclists will have access along the A406 Gunnersbury Avenue at all times.

After these works are complete TfL say that the lane closures currently operating in both directions in this area will cease and all four lanes will be reopened.

All roads around Gunnersbury Avenue will stay open during the works and there will be access to properties.

The work is to extend the central reservation island between Power Road and Park Way to separate opposing traffic lanes, ensuring vehicles can't use oncoming lanes to overtake. Also they will be permanently lowering the speed limit - from 40mph to 30mph - to make it consistent along the A406 Gunnersbury Avenue and improving cycle and pedestrian sections on the Gunnersbury Avenue western footway to match the segregated facilities on Power Road Bridge. It is now no longer possible to make a right turn onto the A406 Gunnersbury Avenue from any side road between Chiswick roundabout and Park Way.

Phase three of the project will be to resurface the road and install new road markings between Park Way and the Chiswick roundabout and this is expected to take place from early to late June this year.
