Ealing Council Parking Services

Since paper permits were done away with, I find it more important than ever that the on line service is user friendly but I don't think it is.  We have two cars in our household one is registered to me and I am the person who is registered to use the Parking Services on line thingy.  However, I don't know how to check up on my husbands car, i.e. when the permit expires etc.  I sent an e-mail to someone on 13th February and have just received a reply, telling me to ring a phone number and leave a message, after which someone will get back to me within 3 days.  How can this be an acceptable way to run anything?

Police on hands and knees sweeping parks at night for knives

Laughably praising themselves after finding one rusty knife left in 1983 ! Maybe searching groups of 4 plus youths of all colours around McDonalds would prevent a stabbing or a loss of life ? But our great Mayor Sadiq thinks numerous police sweeping parks at Midnight for a rusty knife is better!

Local implementation plan consultation

Did anyone on here respond to the consultation the Council ran on its local implementation plan last November/December?There was very little publicity about it and the results of the consultation have not yet been published. Despite that the Council is pressing ahead with its scheme to, among other things, scrap free stop and shop parking, replace short hour CPZs with all day zones regardless of residents wishes, scrapping discounts for short hour CPZs so there is one price for all zones regardless of hours of operation and creating a red route on Uxbridge Road.There will be a massive spend on cycle infrastructure including cycle lanes, which can cost as much as £500,000 per kilometre to build. There seem to be no proposals to deal with the chronic pothole problems across the borough or instigate a programme of pavement repairs.According to the Council there were 467 respondents to the consultation but I have been told that some people were unable to access any details of the proposals when they clicked on the link so we’re unable to actually comment.Did anyone here experience that problem?These proposals will have a huge impact on the borough but there seems to have been a deliberate attempt to stifle any potential opposition by simply not pushing the consultation.Compare the one month of lacklustre publicising of the LIP consultation with the three month timeframe for library consultation which includes sponsored Facebook ads, public meetings and information in Around Ealing magazine. Something is not quite right here.

Last chance to sign petition to save the Goldsmiths Arms

It was the only wheelchair accessible function room in acton.  It served all sections of the community - families with young children and retired people.  The lovely beer garden was a great tonic for families who did not have access to a garden.  It was successful taking up to £30,000 per week.Greene King paid  £774 million for 1200 Spirit Pubs in June 2015 - average of £645,000 then sold  Goldsmiths Arms for £3 million.  Nice return for shareholders.  The new owner will sell it on for much more once he has permission to demolish and build.  Once the Goldsmiths Arms is gone it is gone forever.  As we know property developers do not always build what they say they will.  The owner bought a pub we say he must open it and run it as a pub or sell it as a pub.Together we can save the Goldsmiths Arms and protect our community assets for future generations.Thank you for your support

Skateboard park

Residents in Goldsmiths Close facing the park are suffering from the floodlights, which have been placed directly opposite to us and which shine straight into our bedrooms and sitting rooms.  The lights are also on until something like 0500 in the morning. Apart from being a waste of electricity, the disturbance caused by the very bright lighting is unacceptable.  Impossible to talk to anyone at Ealing Council Parks Dept about this - they will only communicate by Email.  I have Emailed them and been told I must wait 10 days for any response.  any other ideas as to who I can contact?

Goldsmiths Arms

I understand that the application to demolish the Goldsmiths Arms, East Acton Lane, W3 has been submitted to the council and could be considered by the planning committee on the 20th March. Will everyone in support of keeping this historic building as a pub send all supporting evidence and any petition signatures you have to me asap. There will be a full meeting soon - date to be announced. We need all hands on deck now. Heron Trading Estate, Acton.

Is there  anyone on this forum who have living relatives who worked at Napier Aero Engines or Shaw and Kilburn car body shop repairs and spray painters which were both based at the Heron Trading Estate, Acton in the 1950's and 1960's? Both premises were in sight of the Bridge Cafe Westfields Road.

HEALING IN CHISWICK ON MONDAY

New ePetition about Dockless bikes (Mobikes etc)

Are you happy with the way these new bikes just landed on our streets? Within weeks they seemed to become randomly distributed around all our local roads left in an amazing variety of inconvenient places – often on their side and some have even been seen in rivers.There’s a new petition about this on the Ealing Council website (there’s a separate one for Hounslow – below)https://ealing.cmis.uk.com/ealing/E-petitions.aspx  • These are commercial schemes which should be creating a new, flexible and cheap choice of transport.  • Instead, many users seem to ignore pedestrians who might just want to walk on uncluttered pavements and roads    o With blocked thoroughfares life gets harder.    o Harder for the young    o Harder for Mums with buggies or pushchairs    o Harder for our more elderly neighbours    o Harder even for the users – who wants to get to a bike on the app at the end of a cul de sac?  • Any other type of pavement/road blockage is often regarded as unlawful  • There was recent news came that the bikes had also been used in drug related crime  • If the gps technology is vandalised they can simply go off grid and are left  • If the batteries run down the operators say they can simply go off grid and “disappear”  • It can also be argued the schemes are in breach of the tfl code of practice   • http://content.tfl.gov.uk/dockless-bike-share-code-of-practice.pdf  • There simply seems to be no scheme management at all which is not consistent with what tfl seem to think is appropriateThere are commercial schemes with negligible management or responsibilityThe petition on the council website (https://ealing.cmis.uk.com/ealing/E-petitions.aspx) needs 1500 signatures to “win” a council debate OBJECTIVES1.
