Goldsmiths Arms

I understand that the application to demolish the Goldsmiths Arms, East Acton Lane, W3 has been submitted to the council and could be considered by the planning committee on the 20th March. Will everyone in support of keeping this historic building as a pub send all supporting evidence and any petition signatures you have to me asap. There will be a full meeting soon - date to be announced. We need all hands on deck now. It was the only wheelchair accessible function room in acton.  It served all sections of the community - families with young children and retired people.  The lovely beer garden was a great tonic for families who did not have access to a garden.  It was successful taking up to £30,000 per week.Greene King paid  £774 million for 1200 Spirit Pubs in June 2015 - average of £645,000 then sold  Goldsmiths Arms for £3 million.  Nice return for shareholders.  The new owner will sell it on for much more once he has permission to demolish and build.  Once the Goldsmiths Arms is gone it is gone forever.  As we know property developers do not always build what they say they will.  The owner bought a pub we say he must open it and run it as a pub or sell it as a pub.Together we can save the Goldsmiths Arms and protect our community assets for future generations.Thank you for your support

It depends what innovative ideas you can also use the pub for instead of just drinking or drinking and eating.  Hobby clubs, coffee mornings, music, residents' meetings, social  -happy and sad - (remember many people live in tiny homes now).  Who is going to be able to pull this together whilst people of importance are so enthralled by property developers?  Where are the equivalent of the philanthropists of Victorian England?!  We now also need Public Baths as well as Swimming Pools since so many are homeless and on the streets.

It is so sad that we are unable to get Council to listen to us. They allowed trees around Home base, now building site, to be cut. The houses around roundabout by King Fahad academy were allowed to stay. New buildings in Churchfield road disgrace.You are trying really hard, but no use. Goldsmith Arms was an institution and should remain as pub.
