A 59-year-old man from Ealing has been jailed for three years after being found guilty of dealing in Class A drugs.

On Tuesday, 8 September 2020 Gary Byrne of Uxbridge Road was seen by police officers from the West Area Violence Suppression Unit openly selling crack cocaine while sitting at a bus stop near Ealing Common,

When officers went to detain him Byrne dropped several wraps of what has now been identified as crack cocaine before he was arrested. A further quantity of crack cocaine was recovered after strip search at the police station.

His mobile phone was also examined which provided further evidence. He gave a ‘no comment’ interview to police before being charged.

He pleaded guilty at Isleworth Crown Court and on Wednesday, 26 May 2021 was convicted of possession with intent to supply class A drugs.

PC Chris Kendall from West Area Violence Suppression Unit said, “Drug dealing is a serious offence. It attracts serious violence and anti-social behaviour, both of which obviously have a large impact on the local community which is why we work hard to catch those involved”.
