Next Phase for South Acton Estate

Council says quality of life will be improved for local residents

Phase 2.1

The redevelopment of the site of Maugham, Reade, Lawrence, and Shaw Courts is complete. This provides 129 new homes, comprising of 75 rented units and 54 shared ownership units, including 13 wheelchair-adapted homes.

Phase 2.2 (latest phase)

The redevelopment of Shaw Court and Kipling Tower car park will provide a further 125 new homes and will be completed in Summer 2012. Existing South Acton residents are being given priority for allocation to the new homes.

Remaining

London and Quadrant and Countryside Properties have been appointed as the preferred developer partner to carry out the remaining regeneration work on the estate.

London and Quadrant and Countryside's initial proposals for developing over 2500 homes for affordable rent, shared ownership and sale will be developed over the next year in consultation with the community.

Councillor Will Brooks, Cabinet Member for Housing, said: "I'm delighted to mark the next phase of the regeneration of South Acton Estate, which will deliver 125 new affordable homes and improve the quality of life for local residents.

"Ealing Council is committed to the regeneration of South Acton and this latest milestone underlines how serious we are. "

David Hennings, Head of Regeneration for Catalyst, said: "The transformation of the South Acton estate has really come to life over the past few years. to be able to see residents moving into and enjoying their new homes is really what regeneration is all about.

"Today marks the ground-breaking for the final stage of the regeneration by Catalyst, but far from being the end - this is just the beginning of our work with residents and the community to help the area grow from strength to strength beyond the end of the building process.'
