Community groups, residents, schools and local organisations in Acton are being encouraged to apply for a share of £80,000 in funding aimed at supporting projects that improve the town and strengthen local communities.

The funding forms part of Ealing Council's Your Voice, Your Town programme, an initiative designed to support community-led change across the borough's seven town areas. The scheme is based on the principle that local people are best placed to identify the issues and opportunities in their neighbourhoods, with the council helping to provide the resources needed to turn ideas into reality.

For 2026/27, a total of £480,000 has been allocated across Ealing's towns, following a previous funding round in which 77 projects received more than £418,000 to support community initiatives throughout the borough.

In Acton, the latest round of funding has been launched under the banner of The Acton Effect Community Fund: Unlocking the Power of Local Ideas. The fund has been developed by the Acton Town Team, made up of local residents, councillors and community representatives working alongside Ealing Council.

Organisers are seeking projects that bring people together, celebrate Acton's identity and diversity, and make a visible difference to local neighbourhoods. Applications are particularly welcome from initiatives that address one or more of four priority areas: increasing safety, supporting young people through activities and opportunities, strengthening community cohesion and connections, and improving the local environment.

The scheme is open to community groups, voluntary organisations, businesses, schools and individual residents with ideas that will benefit Acton as a whole. Schools can apply provided their project delivers wider community benefits beyond pupils, staff and families.

Town Team members say they are looking for projects that reflect the "Acton Effect" ethos by building pride in the town, bridging cultural and geographical divides, celebrating Acton's character and helping tell the story of the area. Successful projects should demonstrate how they will engage a broad range of residents and bring together people from different backgrounds and age groups.

Two levels of grant funding are available. Smaller grants of up to £1,000 are intended to support visible community action, while larger grants of up to £10,000 are available for more substantial projects. Successful applicants will be expected to deliver their projects between February and December 2027, subject to the completion of grant agreements and the necessary checks.

Funding cannot be used for profit-making ventures, political or lobbying activities, religious promotion, projects that discriminate against others, or initiatives that are not directly connected to Acton or the fund's priorities. Retrospective funding for costs already incurred is also excluded.

The deadline for applications is 1pm on 3 December 2026.

Residents with an idea that could make a positive difference in Acton can find further information and submit an application through Ealing Council's Your Voice, Your Town programme website.
