Police appeal for witnesses following accident
Police are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision in Park Royal Road, NW10 Sunday evening (15th June).
Officers were called at approx 8:54pm following a collision between a double decker bus and a white Volkswagen van on Park Royal Road, opposite Acton Cemetary.
London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service attended and the male driver of the van - aged 26 yrs - was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the bus and some passengers were taken to hospital and treated for minor injuries before being discharged.
While Police believe they know the identity of the deceased, they await formal identification and next of kin to be informed.
A post mortem has been scheduled for today at Uxbridge Mortuary. An inquest will be opened and adjourned by the West London coroner.
Sergeant Harry Wilkinson from the Collision Investigation Unit based at Alperton is leading the investigation. He said:
"I am appealing for any witnesses who may have seen this incident. Initial reports suggest the bus and van were involved in a head on collision. Park Royal is a busy road and there would have been a number of people in the area at that time of evening. If you saw anything, please contact our incident room on 020 8998 5319 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
