Survey finds majority back move to Old Oak Common
Queens Park Rangers says its plans to move to a new stadium at Old Oak Common has the support of a huge majority of funs.
In May, the club asked fans to take part in a survey about the move. Over 8,000 responded, and the club says it has now been through all the answers and comments, which will be given to the stadium architects, Populous.
A few key findings from the survey were as follows:
QPR says as well as completing the multiple-choice answers, many supporters chose to offer their own ideas of how to create a stadium QPR can be proud of and it is really grateful for all of them.
The club's statement continues: " The stadium and wider regeneration at Old Oak is a complex project and there will undoubtedly be many issues along the process, but everyone involved is working hard with the relevant authorities to move the plans forward.
"We continue to make good progress and have the support of the authorities to delivering a stadium led regeneration.
" We will keep supporters involved and will continue with consultations about the new stadium’s design in due course.
Thank you for your continued support."
QPR unveiled plans for a new 40,000 seater stadium in December last year. The stadium is planned as part of a major regeneration project in the Old Oak area in West London.
In December, club Chairman, Tony Fernandes, said: " Loftus Road is – and always will be – a special place for the club and our supporters, but we need more than an 18,000 capacity.
" With no option of expanding here, we have to look elsewhere and we welcome the Mayor’s and Hammersmith & Fulham Council’s commitment to regenerate the area, which includes an option to develop a new stadium at Old Oak as a key catalyst to bring forward redevelopment, cementing our future in this part of West London."
