The final candidate list has been published for the South West seat in the forthcoming Greater London Assembly (GLA) elections. The constituency combines the boroughs of Hounslow, Richmond upon Thames and Kingston upon Thames.

The seat has been held by the Conservative Party since the foundation of the Assembly and up until 2021 had been represented by Tony Arbour. Nick Rogers held onto the seat in the pandemic-delayed elections of 2021 in a tight three-way contest with the Liberal Democrats and Labour in which he topped the poll despite getting less than a third of the votes.

Hoping to keep the seat blue will be Cllr Ron Mushiso, a teacher who currently represents the Chiswick Gunnersbury ward on Hounslow Council.

Cllr Gareth Roberts, the Liberal Democrat Leader of Richmond Council, is standing again having finished second last time.

Cllr Chas Warlow, who represents South Richmond ward is standing for the Green Party.

Marcela Benedetti, who was born in Argentina and lives in Kingston upon Thames, is the Labour and Co-operative Party candidate. She works as a community Engagement Manager at domestic abuse charity Refuge.

ReformUK - London Deserves Better is being represented by Steve Chilcott and Abigail Hardy is standing as an independent.

The Mayoral and London Assembly elections will take place on Thursday 2 May.

There are three different ‘contests’ that make up GLA elections – and three different ballot papers for voters. These are for:

  • the Mayor of London
  • the 14 Members of the London Assembly that represent London’s 14 Constituencies
  • the 11 Assembly Members that represent the whole of London (London-wide Members)

You must be on the electoral register to vote in Mayor of London and London Assembly elections. You can register to vote online in just a few minutes using a form. You'll need to provide your National Insurance number, your date of birth and your address.
