Michael Haran raising funds for the Upper Room and The Peru Mission in Acton Park

A fine artist who lives in Shepherd’s Bush and works from a base in Acton is to hold a fund-raising exhibition.

Michael Haran is a multi-disciplinary artist who studied at the The Slade School of Fine Art. Sixteen of his art prints are to be put on display at Putt in The Park in Acton Park.

He works predominantly in either oil or acrylics on canvas or mixed media works utilising collage, gouache, watercolours and all kinds of pens, inks, coloured markers, pencils, pastels and collage.

The themes of his work are wide-ranging and include abstract figurative or biomorphic art and abstract expressionism. Playful surrealism, highly coloured and full of motion, using a multitude of mediums. He is influenced by his experiences in the DreamTime, shamanism, surrealism, biomorphic sculpture, DaDa, Post-impressionist, synthetic, and futurist art movements, archaeology, and ancient cultures, as well as hand-drawn vintage cartoons and talking billboards. Jazz, and many other music genres, and a vast variety of literature, especially the Beat movement writers, Jack Kerouac and William S. Burroughs also play a part in forming his work.

He will be giving 20% of any sales proceeds to two charities The Upper Room which helps the hungry and homeless and is based in W12 and The Peru Mission based in Iquitos in Peru Amazonia where Michael lived for two and a half years from 2012-2014 and is where his son was born.

The prints are also being exhibited digitally for you to view. Unframed limited edition prints can be delivered free worldwide on all online purchases.

Hand framed Artist's Proofs are being displayed in the restaurant at Putt in the Park. There is a minimum two week turnaround to get the prints and frames made to be able to deliver. These can be delivered for free in The UK and the prints are framed with acrylic glazing so that they don’t crack like glass can do whilst being transported.

Michael has also set up GoFundMe campaigns for both The Upper Room and The Peru Mission for anyone who wants to donate but doesn’t want to buy a print.
