Open House Weekend at Gunnersbury Park

A chance to view the restoration and take a tour of the landscape

The London Open House weekend takes place across the capital over a weekend each September as part of a pan-European event. It provides public access, completely free of charge, to buildings of architectural and community interest across the Capital. This year it will take place on Saturday September 17 and Sunday September 18.

Two architect-led behind the Scenes at the Gunnersbury Park Restoration tours will run on Sunday, 18 September from 11am-12pm and 1pm-2pm. Meet outside the main park gates on Pope's Lane, W3.

There is also a Gunnersbury Park Landscape Tour on Sunday 18 September at 2pm to discuss the planned restoration of the park in 2016/17. The tour will give an insight into the future transformation of the heritage landscape which hosts over 20 listed features including an orangery, walled garden, bathhouse and the remnants of a horseshoe pond.

If you want to participate on any of the tours you must pre-book by email on gunnersburylearning@ealing.gov.uk as places are limited.

Many buildings across the borough will be granting free entry on the weekend, with guides and volunteers on hand to give information. In some cases this will include access to areas not usually open to the public.

Open House was started in 1992 as a small, not-for-profit organisation to promote public awareness and appreciation of the capital's building design and architecture. The organisers saw this as a way of helping the wider community to become more knowledgeable, engage in dialogue and make informed judgements on architecture.
