Relic: Guardians of the Museum from CBBC

Spooky exhibition at Gunnersbury Park Museum

CBBC’s Relic: Guardians of the Museum becomes a reality at Gunnersbury Park Museum this summer.

A spooky – dead – tour guide, one of the biggest museums in the world and children…

These are the magic ingredients in Relic: Guardians of the Museum, a TV series which hit the screens of BBC One earlier this year.

In the programmes we are taken into the behind-the-scenes world of the British Museum in London. Young people are summoned to the great building by spooky tour guide called Agatha and given just one night to uncover the secrets of a relic held inside the museum.

The 13-part series is part of A History of the World, a unique, year-long partnership between the BBC, the British Museum and hundreds of museums throughout the UK.

Now the TV series has taken on a life of its own. Throughout the summer holidays more than 150 museums will be running their own Relic trails, modelled on the television programmes. The free trails are available at museums across the UK and locally at Gunnersbury Park Museum.

Quote from Jamie Rea, Executive Producer at CBBC:

“Bringing history to life was the inspiration for the CBBC series and these Relic trails give families the chance to do just that, as they discover the stories and personalities behind their local museum’s collection.”
