Licensing applications to be in by 6th August

Get your licensing applications in now ! All pubs, bars, restaurants, off licences, cafes and stores that serve alcohol in Ealing borough, should have received information from the council about the new Licensing Act 2003. The pack contains applications and guidance for the conversion or variation of premises and personal licences.

Buinessess are reminded that if they are planning to continue to trade as normal and not vary their terms of their existing licences, they must submit their new applications to the Licensing Team by 6th August 2005 - which is now less than two months away.

Businesses will still have until 24th November, when the act becomes law, to get their applcations in but after 6th August will have to complete extra forms, so a licence will take longer to issue. Also their application could face objections by the police, residents or other businesses.

It is important for businesses to possess a new premises licence - whether this is a conversion or variable - and a personal licence to trade legally before the new law comes into effect in November. If you need further advice or help, contact the Licensing Team on 020 8825 6655 who will be pleased to help you. You can also click on the link below, www.ealing.gov/services/licensing to get more information and download copies of the forms.

Cllr John Delaney, Cabinet Member for Streets and Environment said:

"We urge all licence holders to get forms in sooner than later, especially if they intend to carry on trading as normal.   In the long term the licensing act will simplify life for the trade - but not if we have to stop them serving alcohol, because they haven't complied with the law.
