Berrymede Junior praised in national report

Acton school named as a national high achiever

Berrymede Junior is one of four Ealing Schools to be highlighted in a prestigious list of the country's high achievers this week.

The Annual Report of Her Majesty's Chief Inspector of Schools (HMCI) identifies schools that did particularly well in their Ofsted inspections last year, and also recognises achievements in tests and examinations.

Berrymede Junior joined Greenfields Children Centre and Grove House Children Centre in receiving a letter from David Bell, HMCI, congratulating them on their success. Perivale Primary was also praised for the significant improvements it has made which allowed it to be removed from special measures in 2004.

Councillor Sonika Nirwal, cabinet member for developing young people, said:

"All our schools are working really hard across the borough to raise standards and it's great news that four have been singled out for praise in this report".

Mr Macfarlane, Head Teacher of Berrymede Junior said, "We are absolutely thrilled to receive this accolade of praise from Ofsted for outstanding achievement. It acknowledges and celebrates the hard work, dedication, commitment and high expectation of all the staff, the support and cooperation of the governors and parents and above all the wonderfully talented, able and enthusiastic children in the school, who work so hard to improve their learning and who always try to give their very best.

Hopefully this recognition will enable us to continue to raise standards and go on to achieve even greater success".
