Andy Slaughter wants exchange with West London Line
A local MP is calling for a new stop to be introduced on Crossrail. Andy Slaughter, who represents Ealing, Acton and Shepherd's Bush at Westminster says that an additional stop should be placed at Old Oak to interchange with the West London line.
He says that building the station would be technically possible but the economic case would depend on the success of the new Overground system. Next month Ken Livingstone will be taking over the North and West London lines and is committed to introducing more trains, improved and safer stations as well as Oyster ticketing.
Mr. Slaughter said, "We also have two new stations being built in Hammersmith & Fulham (out of four in the whole country! – and we have the first new tube station built on an existing line in 70 years, at Wood Lane). Shepherds Bush station is due to open before the end of the year. An interchange at Old Oak would mean anyone getting on at Shepherds Bush, Olympia or West Brompton would be a few minutes away from Crossrail and the Great Western line."
The station would probably be situated towards the north of Wormwood Scrubs.
Under current plans Crossrail will be stopping at Acton, Ealing Broadway, West Ealing and Hanwell.
