Ealing and Acton Train Vandal Jailed
Maksymillian Knapik damaged trains and railway infrastructure costing £73,000
A man has been jailed for 20 months and given a five year Criminal Behaviour Order for causing criminal damage to trains and the railway including areas of Ealing and Acton which cost over £73,000 to repair.
Maksymillian Knapik, aged 25, of no fixed abode, was sentenced at Blackfriars Crown Court on 15 May.
Between February and July last year, Knapik damaged a number of trains and the railway infrastructure on the London Underground and National Rail, mainly in West or South West London.
He painted graffiti on trains, including some which were decommissioned, and targeted trains held at Acton Depot, where some historic underground carriages are kept for London Transport’s heritage museum.
For many of the offences he dressed in hi-visibility clothing and wore a white hard hat.
Whilst committing an offence at Ealing Common depot, Knapik dropped his tabard and hard hat. His DNA was later found on the hard hat.
Knapik was arrested on 17 May 2016 when a security guard at Ealing Common depot noticed fresh graffiti on a train and saw Knapik running away.
BTP officers attended and arrested him.
The graffiti vandal was found guilty of criminal damage and sentenced to 20 months’ imprisonment with a five year CBO.
