Planning Petition Goes Online

Calling for public meeting to discuss residents concerns

An online petition to discuss concerns over Ealing's Planning department has been given the go-ahead.

Councillor Benjamin Dennehy, Hanger Hill, (standing as UKIP representative next election) says he has been inundated with complaints from local residents about problems they have encountered.

He has written to Ealing's Council Leader, Julian Bell, and the Chief Executive, Martin Smith, urging they look into the department and has now set up an online petition calling for an open forum.

He hopes the public meeting will '' allow residents to vent their frustrations at the planning department in an open and democratic forum. They want the opportunity to put questions about service, standards and quality directly to the management and leadership of the Planning department.''

Councillor Dennehey says '' Many residents feel that the planning department is ineffective and incompetent. Many don't feel that the complaints procedure is adequate. Frustration with decisons, reports and quality of work and knowlwedge is seriously causing concern to many. An open public meeting to air grievances could act as a first step in the healing process.''

There must be 1,500 signatures to trigger a debate in Council.
