Residents and businesses in Hanger Hill have welcomed further action by Ealing Council to clear abandoned and damaged vehicles from local streets, with eight cars towed from Elveden Road on Friday 14 November. The removals, near the North Circular in Ealing, follow sustained efforts by Liberal Democrat councillors Jonathan Oxley and Athena Zissimos.

This latest operation comes just weeks after a similar sweep in September, which saw 11 vehicles removed. Among the cars taken away this month was a Mercedes with three outstanding penalty charge notices (PCNs). Council records show that in January 2025 alone, 27 parking tickets were issued in the area, with only two paid. Misuse of trade plates has also been reported to the DVLA.

Councillor Oxley said, “Liberal Democrats continue to act on this important issue, working with council officers and police to address this persistent problem. Businesses as well as local residents welcome these removals as it ensures that the road is passable for themselves and access is available for emergency services if necessary.”

The council is stressing that members of the public can also play a role by reporting abandoned or damaged vehicles directly to the council, rather than waiting for councillor intervention. It says reports made by residents should be treated with the same urgency as those raised by elected representatives.

Residents who spot abandoned or damaged vehicles can make a report via the council’s online service: Report an abandoned vehicle.
