Free visitor vouchers and online renewal promised
Frozen parking and permit charges, free visitors’ vouchers and car park hour extensions are just part of a package improvements to parking in the borough announced by Ealing Council.
In addition, a new draft Parking Code of Conduct will soon be consulted on with local residents and interested parties with details expected to be announced in September.
Pay and display charges and CPZ permit vouchers are to be frozen for another two years and residents will be given a free book of visitors' vouchers to be used from April 2009.
New facilities to renew parking permits online and an expanded over the phone parking payment service will also be introduced in early 2009. Ealing has been accused in the past of processing renewals of permits made by post deliberately slowly to enable parking attendants to issue a large number of tickets when residents' annual permits have expired.
These latest parking announcements come on top of the already announced re-structure of parking services.
Cllr Phil Taylor, the Cabinet Member responsible for Parking Services, said: “There is a perception among the general public that all councils are seeking to raise as much money as possible from parking. Our charges for parking and CPZ permits are among the lowest in west London and we are committed to continuing to keep these low.”
