Coffee Morning to Raise Money for Pakistan

Age Concern hosts event with proceeds going to flood victims

The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC) has launched an appeal to support people affected by the floods. As a member of the DEC, Age UK will be participating in this appeal. To raise funds for the DEC’s relief efforts, Age Concern Ealing will be hosting a coffee morning as follows:

Tuesday, 7th September 10:30am

Michael Flanders Centre, Church Road, Acton W3 8PP

DONATION: £5.00

You have probably all seen the coverage of the devastating effects of the floods in Pakistan caused by extra heavy rainfalls. At least 1,600 people have died and around 14 million people are thought to have been affected, of which 1 million are likely to be older people.

Age UK is working with its sister organisation, HelpAge International, to respond to the most vulnerable older people and their families in Nowshera district in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, one of the worst affected districts. They are working with Merlin, a medical aid charity, to provide vital support with dry food rations, non-food items such as torches and water containers, medicines, mobility aids and psycho-social care.
