Two people have been stabbed and another has been seriously injured at Central Middlesex Hospital this Wednesday afternoon (21 June).

Armed police officers attended and one man has been arrested and taken to hospital with injuries that are believed to be self-inflicted and potentially life-threatening.

At this time the incident is not being treated as terror-related. Unconfirmed reports say that the man was seen wielding a pickaxe and that the attacks were the result of a personal dispute.

The police say that they were called to the scene at 1.18pm and found the two people with stab wounds.

The injuries of one of the victims are being treated as life threatening.

Staff were evacuated from the hospital and were seen standing outside the building.

Officers remained in the hospital as further searches were conducted but, at this time, they are satisfied that no one else is sought. There will be a heightened police presence at the hospital while investigations continue.

The hospital was temporarily locked down but has now re-opened and will be operating services as normal.
