Crime Figures for Ealing

Gun, car and racist crimes on the increase in the borough

The latest crime figures for Ealing are shown in the table below. They show an overall increase of 0.9% across the borough, whereas the Met total for the same period is a decrease of 2.3%. Overall there were fewer murders, and knife crime was down too.

The figures, however, will not make comfortable reading for many residents, nor will they be welcome for Ealing Borough Police.

Although robbery has decreased, and there is a decrease in homicide, there are increases in violent crimes, rapes, gun crime and others.

Acting Chief Superintendent Ian Jenkins said, ''Crime in the Borough of Ealing has seen a consistent fall over the last five years.  2009 presented us with some challenges and we witnessed a very slight increase in reported crime compared with 2008.

However, we are not complacent and already, only four weeks into the New Year we have seen a slight downward trend in overall reported crime and it is our aim to provide the best possible service to all victims of crime.

2010 presents new opportunities to improve the safety and confidence of our local community and I am looking forward to working closely with our partners to make Ealing the safest Borough in London.''
