Appeal for witnesses to unprovoked stabbing of commuter
Police are appealing to the public to help identify a man who they believe was responsible for a vicious assault on a male, which occurred on Ealing Common at pproximately 1845hrs on Thursday 29th November.
The victim, a male in his 20s, had just left Ealing Common Tube Station and was walking diagonally across Ealing Common in the direction of the Grange Pub and Dining Rooms when the incident took place.
As he approached the Warwick Road end of the common he noticed two groups of young males in the area. He continued to walk through the common and as got nearer the males he could hear the groups shouting at each other. As he attempted to pass the group, the suspect struck him and on running he realised he had been stabbed in his shoulder and his hand.
He was taken to a West London Hospital where he was treated for non-life threatening injuries.
Police say they are retaining an open mind regarding a motive for the attack. The suspect is thought to be a mixed race male, 18–25yrs, who was wearing a dark coloured top and a light coloured Beanie hat. He was in the company of approximately 15-20 youths.
"This was a terrifying, vicious and unprovoked attack on an innocent member of the community," said Detective Constable Tim Fines, Ealing Borough Police. "It is important we locate this individual. Ealing borough police are treating this incident very seriously and are anxious to trace the offender.
