Noisy Neighbours Fined by Court

Council Noise Team takes action

Two noisy neighbours have been slapped with fines after being taken to court by Ealing Council.

The Council’s Noise Team took action against Baljinder Sandhu, of Alexandria Road, West Ealing, after she continued to play music at full blast after she had been served with a noise abatement notice.  Council officers were called to the property on 15 separate occasions.  Sandhu appeared before Acton Magistrates on Thursday, 22 January, where she pleaded guilty and was fined £200 for four breaches of a noise abatement notice.  She was also ordered to pay £388 to cover the Council’s legal costs.

Mariam Shahat, of Simpson Drive, Acton, also pleaded guilty when she was hauled before the court on Thursday for three counts of breaching a noise abatement notice by playing loud music.  She was fined £400 and ordered to pay £324 in costs.

Councillor Vlod Barchuk, Cabinet Member for Safer Communities, said: “A lot of people in Ealing live in close proximity so it’s important that residents are considerate of each other.  I’m pleased that the court has handed down these fines and I hope it will deter other people from playing their music too loud and making their neighbours’ lives hell.”
