Dodgy Landlord Told to Make Necessary Repairs

Leaky pipes land property company in hot water

Nestco Properties Ltd, which owns a block of about 30 flats in Gunnersbury Avenue, Ealing, was fined £2,500 at Acton Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, 17 January. The company was also ordered to pay £817.25 costs.

The Council served a notice on the landlord in April requiring them to clean up their act and make the necessary repairs to faulty rainwater downpipes within 28 days. The property owners were also sent two warning letters, but landed themselves in hot water after failing to mend the broken rainwater pipes.

Councillor Ian Green, Cabinet Member for Adult Services and Housing, said: “This result is a warning to landlords that we will not tolerate such irresponsible behaviour. If they fail to make necessary repairs and do not heed our warnings, they will face court action and similar hefty fines.”
