Bird of Prey Snapped by Eagle-Eyed Local

Twitchers needed to help identify species

Luckily, gifted photographer Hamish Kinghorn had a camera to hand when this bird of prey arrived for Sunday lunch in his garden a couple of weeks ago.

Hamish lives just to the North of Gunnersbury Park, behind the Old Actonians Sports Club - not somewhere generally associated with birdwatching.

Exotic birds are not an uncommon site around the area with green parakeets often seen by local residents. These are believed to have originated from a captive pair that escaped several years ago.

We're not confident enough to be able to identify this beautiful bird of prey, but perhaps any twitchers might enlighten us on their relevant forum.
