Crackdown on Crime in Ealing


Results from Operation Big Wing

In the latest Metropolitan Police Wide operation targeting criminals, officers in Ealing took part in Operation 'Big Wing' on Wednesday 27 February.

Officers recorded a number of successes including:

24 arrests for a range of offences including possession of drugs, possession of firearms, and handling stolen goods.

Nine search warrants were executed resulting in drugs, cash and thousands of pounds worth of stolen jewellery and cash being seized.

Officers also seized a number of high powered air weapons, including an Uzi type firearm and a firearm that could easily be converted from firing blanks to real ammunition.

Local school children participated as officers set up knife arches or hand wands to prevent knife enabled crime. This received great support from local schools.

Other activities included; visits to over 40 licensed premises, weapons sweeps in prominent locations, Safer Transport Team enforcement, property marking and reassurance patrols which included the assistance of mounted branch
