The Chief Executive of West London NHS Trust Carolyn Regan has been awarded a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) in His Majesty the King’s Birthday Honours list.
She says she has accepted the honour in appreciation of all her colleagues working in public service, especially staff at West London NHS Trust and the wider NHS community, acknowledging their tireless effort and hard work to deliver outstanding care each and every day.
Ms Regan has had a prominent career in the NHS and has held senior leadership roles across London; formerly Chief Executive of North East London Strategic Health Authority, she was also pivotal in the establishment of NHS West London Clinical Commissioning Group.
Under her leadership as CEO of West London NHS Trust since 2015, the Trust has been rated Good overall by the CQC with some areas classed as Outstanding. The Turst provides mental and physical health services to the London boroughs of Ealing, Hammersmith and Fulham and Hounslow as well as some services on a national basis, including forensic and high-security services
She is described as a passionate champion for tackling health inequalities who aims to give a voice to under-represented parts of our community. By championing inclusivity and fairness, she hopes to drive positive change, ensuring that everyone, regardless of their background, receives the highest quality of care.
Ms Regan is the co-chair for the population health management and reducing inequalities programme in NW London, which introduces initiatives which are intended to create a fairer more representative health system. The latest example of this is the NW London refugee recruitment programme which offers work in the NHS for refugees arriving in the UK.
Most recently she was named in the HSJ Top 50 leaders in healthcare, she has also been named in the Financial Times OUTstanding top 20 LGBT public sector leaders and as an outstanding leader by the NHS London women’s leadership network.
She was Chief Executive of the Legal Services Commission, and previously the Chair of Just for Kids Law, a trustee of various charities, a University Board independent member and a Board member of the Press Recognition Panel.
She one of only four NHS chief executives to be awarded a CBE in His Majesty the King’s Birthday Honours List.
