Don't Miss The Deadline

School applications for 2011 must into council by end of the month

Parents of children due to start secondary school in September 2011 are being urged to return their applications before the deadline.

The cut-off date for paper applications returned to schools is Friday 22 October and for online applications and paper applications returned directly to the council it is Sunday 31 October. All applications received after these dates will be treated as late.

Last year, all those who applied before the deadline were offered a place at an Ealing school and 88% were offered a place at one of their top three schools.

The easiest way to apply is via the www.eadmissions.org.uk website. Paper application forms are also available from either the Ealing primary school the child currently attends or by contacting Ealing Council’s admissions service.

Ealing Council is part of the pan-London admissions scheme. Under this ‘one-stop’ system, parents must submit one application listing six schools in order of preference, even if some of their preferred schools are outside of the borough. The council then co-ordinates its offers of school places with other London boroughs, ensuring that no student is offered more than one place.

Councillor Patricia Walker, cabinet member for Children and Young People said: “Ealing’s high schools deliver fantastic results and, as a consequence, are very popular with families both within and outside of the borough.

“Despite these pressures, our admissions service has a very good record of securing students one of their preferred schools, but it is very difficult to do this if applications are returned late.

“Anyone having difficulties completing the application form should contact our admissions service for advice.”
