G-Wiz creates a buzz

CityCarClubs provides electric car share for Council employees

Heading for another first on March 24th is car-share company CityCarClub in partnership with Ealing Council. That's the launch-date of an exciting new car share club set up for Ealing Council employees and managed by CityCarClubs as part of an innovative rethink on modern transport strategies.

CityCarClubs, a company with 5 years experience in developing successful car clubs throughout the UK has over 1000 members in Edinburgh, Bristol, Brighton & Hove and London, making it the first choice for Ealing Council. The car club will provide two G-Wiz models, the electric car recently seen at the Arcadia Shopping Centre in Ealing Broadway.

Chas Ball, joint director of CityCarClub, which already provides 8 cars for local residents in dedicated parking bays located throughout Ealing and Acton, commented. “It's great to be able to forward such an exciting scheme. What makes this particular car club so interesting for us is the chance to be in at the beginning of a highly innovative sustainable transport option, providing Ealing Council staff with a small pool of cars for essential business trips in the local area. And benefitting the environment.”

CityCarClub has over 50 cars and more than 350 members across seven boroughs in London including Ealing and Acton. Here, CityCarClub cars can be accessed from Myrtle Road, Spencer Road, Birkbeck Road and Burlington Gardens in Acton, Ealing Town Hall and St Leonard's Road in West Ealing - and more bays are due to be launched in Ealing Broadway, Southfields and North Ealing to serve a growing list of members. Joining the club gives people the freedom to drive a car when they want to, without having the headaches and expense of car ownership. Members simply book a car by phone or via the internet then go as they please, to the supermarket, the garden centre or to a business meeting – anywhere in fact, just as they would use their own car. When their journey's finished they simply return the car to the same reserved bay – with no parking problems or the need for special permits.

Ealing Council's new car club featuring electric cars is being launched at the Ramada Jarvis Big Business Breakfast event dubbed “Win It In a Minute” on 24th March. This is a joint event brought together through a partnership of Action Acton and West London Business and sponsored by London City Car Club and Thames Valley University.
