Enjoy The Great Outdoors This Summer

Woodland Trust giving away ' tree party' packs

The Woodland Trust want more of us to appreciate the great outdoors this summer and is giving away a fun pack to encourage us to do so.

The “tree party” packs are a fun way to learn more about nature and having a break from televisions and computer screens.

The packs include lots of activities to enjoy in the company of woods and trees including a spotter sheet, scavenger hunts, straws and sticker books (photo attached) and much more - in fact it’s everything a family will need to host a tree party.

Families are then encouraged to send in their picnic photographs, stories and recipes to the Woodland Trust to win Sainsbury’s vouchers to the value of £1000.

The Trust wants to encourage families and friends to host a picnic in a park or woods. For those who don’t live near local woodland, they can invite their favourite tree in a garden or park to be their guest of honour. It is a great opportunity to forget about the hustle and bustle of city life.

Karen Letten, the Community Engagement Manager at the Woodland Trust said:

“An increasing amount of research suggests fewer children are playing outside and we want kids to reconnect with nature.

” Inviting a Tree for Tea  is a fab, inexpensive way to keep them entertained and encourages them to play outside in the holidays.

“Hearing ‘I’m bored’ is every parent’s nightmare but a tree party picnic doesn’t have to rely on the weather. The rain won’t stop the fun; children love building dens but hopefully there will be lots of sun this summer too.”

The Woodland Trust wants people to take time out to enjoy woods and trees and help preserve them for future generations. The tree party is a free, fun initiative designed to bring people together and realise life’s better with trees. It’s a chance for people to celebrate trees and learn more about them.
