Francesco Fruzza

I was born, educated and have lived all my life in West London. I am from an Italian background but my roots are firmly planted in West London. My children were born and have grown up here. I am committed to London and want to ensure that we protect the quality of life for all residents and that we keep London special – the best city in the world.

With any London borough but especially Ealing & Hillingdon, even a local would find it is difficult to fully describe the complexities of the various communities, ethnic and religious groupings which make the city so wonderfully vibrant. I am grateful to be offered the opportunity to serve the whole diverse community in Ealing & Hillingdon and, if successful, I will ensure that all the elements which make my community strong will be supported and championed.

I will seize the opportunity to continue to expand my knowledge and better understand the needs and aspirations of the whole community in my area. One of the perceived failings in the political process in the past has been a failure to listen and understand the various needs of the different sections of the community, and I believe I can change that perception for the better.

During the campaign I shall be highlighting the big issues affecting London:-

Housing:  London needs more housing of all tenures as a matter of urgency, including longer leases and better conditions for those in the private rented sector. Liberal Democrats intend to create a new £2 billion housing investment fund to more than double the number of affordable homes being delivered across London.

Policing; Should be based on consent, community policing and restorative justice.   We should value our neighbourhood policing teams and I am committed to fighting to protect them.

Transport: I support Caroline Pidgeon’s, plans to offer half price fares on Underground, Overground and TFL Rail Services for people travelling by 7.30am, this would build on the party’s plans for introducing a one hour bus ticket.

Pollution: I believe we should promote a move to electric vehicles, encourage cycling and walking and increase capacity on our public transport, especially at peak times.

Cost of living and inequalities: The high cost of living makes it increasingly difficult for ordinary people to live in our area.  It’s not just house prices and rents but also the cost of child care and transport, as you can see above all of these issues are be addressed  by the LibDems.

Improve recycling especially household recycling; we must make it easy for people to play their part. Ensure the voice of Ealing and Hillingdon residents is listened to and championed, when it come to the NHS changes being proposed for West London and the continued push to build on GREEN BELT that should be protected. Keep the heart in our high streets  by supporting  local businesses. Make people feel safer with cleaner streets, the removal of graffiti, better lighting .

I’m delighted to have been selected by Ealing and Hillingdon Liberal Democrats to be the Lib Dem candidate in the GLA election for Ealing and Hillingdon constituency.
