Adopt an animal this Christmas

A unique gift from Brent Lodge Park Animal Centre

If you're looking for a unique gift for family or friends this Christmas, Ealing's 'Adopt an Animal' project may be just what you're looking for.

From today, animal-lovers are invited to adopt an animal at the Brent Lodge Park Animal Centre in Hanwell.

Animal Centre Manager Ann Morrice said, "Many people decide to give animals as a gift at Christmas time. Unfortunately, some of those animals subsequently become unwanted and are abandoned.

"Adoption provides the perfect alternative. You can experience all the enjoyment of having an animal in your life, but without the responsibility that ownership brings."

For £25, you can adopt the animal of your choice for twelve months. You will receive an adoption pack which includes a certificate and colour photo confirming the adoption, an information sheet about the animal and four passes to the animal centre so that you can visit your adopted animal throughout the year.

The centre is home to capuchin monkeys, marmoset monkeys, royal pythons, an iguana and chameleon, poison dart frogs, fire bellied toads, terrapins, tarantulas, rhea and a variety of birds. There are also domestic species such as rabbits, guinea pigs, cockatiels, sheep goats and pygmy goats.

Ann Morrice added: "The 'Adopt an Animal' project is a fun way for people to support the animal centre. "The £25 fee helps to feed the adopted animal and maintain its enclosure. The information sheet also helps to promote education about that species."

The project will continue throughout 2005. To organise an animal adoption, you can contact the centre on 020 8825 7529 and speak to Ann Morrice or Natalie Mcall; or by post or in person at:
