Teen Drug Death Lecturer In 'Serious Condition' After Bridge Fall

Brian Dodgeon believed to have jumped off bridge onto North Circular

The academic at the centre of the investigation into the death of an Acton teenager is believed to have thrown himself off a bridge.

Brian Dodgeon, 60, is thought to have broken both legs after jumping from a flyover on the North Circular Road in Walthamstow yesterday, Wednesday 3rd May, and is in a serious condition in hospital.

Institute of Education lecturer Dodgeon, whose daughter hosted the party where 15 year old Chiswick Community School pupil Isobel Reilly died, was arrested on suspicion of drug possession and child abandonment and bailed until June.

He has been suspended from his position on full pay.

Police confirmed they had attended an incident in which a man of 60 had fallen from a bridge but would not confirm his identity. A spokesman said: "Shortly after 10.10am yesterday, police were called to the North Circular Road (A406) at Walthamstow to reports of a man who had fallen from a bridge.

"A 60-year-old man suffering from serious leg injuries was taken to hospital where he is in a serious but stable condition."

Detective Sergeant Neil Philpott, from Kensington and Chelsea borough, said: "We are yet to make contact with all those who attended and would ask anyone who was present at any point during the evening to make contact with officers by calling 0300 123 1212. Alternatively, you can speak to Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."

Police are continuing with their investigation into Isobel's death. The 15-year-old fell ill during a party at Mr. Dodgeon's home in Barlby Road, W10 on 23 April. Mr. Dodgeon's 14-year-old daughter and two 14-year-old boys were also taken to hospital for observation but have been released.
