An Enchanting Evening at the Tabard

Bell, Book and Candle: the classic Broadway and West End comedy about the romance of magic and the magic of romance. (Ad)

This February, Theatre at the Tabard presents Bell, Book and Candle: the classic Broadway and West End comedy about the romance of magic and the magic of romance.

Young witch Gillian Holroyd’s mood is restless as her attractive new tenant, Tony Henderson, is poised to announce his engagement to her old school rival. Gillian could use her extraordinary magical powers to bind him with a spell, but that wouldn’t be much of a challenge.

Can she win his affections without resorting to the dark arts? And what will it do to her if she succeeds?

John Van Druten’s enchanting tale became a hit Hollywood film with Kim Novak and James Stewart, and inspired the beloved television series Bewitched.

With a cast of five lovable characters and a spell-binding plot, Bell, Book and Candle plays a limited four week run at the Tabard from Thursday 16th February.

Early reviews have been enthusiastic:

“Great fun throughout, the play delivers witty humour and snappy dialogue centred around a refreshingly retro portrayal of the supernatural, filled to the brim with excellent performances.”
