New  Fulham Theatre Launches on March 10

First show at local "hub for innovation" will be musical called Ordinary Days

A new 65 seat "boutique" theatre will open in Fulham on March 10.

Though there are a number of theatres in surrounding areas, including Chelsea, Barons Court and of course Hammersmith, Fulham has up till now not had one of its own.

Now however, London Theatre Workshop Launch has announced that it will be opening the doors to a new, fully functional, 65 seat boutique theatre above the recently Eel Brook pub (formerly the Southern Cross), at 65 New Kings Road.

London Theatre Workshop's first production will be Ordinary Days,with music and lyrics by one of musical theatre's most exciting new composers Adam Gwon, from March 10 to 29.

" I am thrilled we have convinced Greene King, the landlord of this beautiful building, that London Theatre Workshop could really make something of the space," says Ray Rackham, Artistic Director of London Theatre Workshop.

" A redevelopment of the entire building, which itself was the home of Lord Peterborough, will restore the building to its former glory. It is my intention to ensure that the London Theatre Workshop truly becomes a destination venue for all."

The London Theatre Workshops ays it is a new concept for marrying commercial theatre, workshops, staged readings and education; together with a platform for up and coming artists and musicians. Its artistic policy is to create a hub for innovation through the reimagination of classic music theatre, the celebration of contemporary writing and reappraisal of 20th Century British and American drama.

Its first season, running from March to July will see a revival of the classic Eugene O’Neill play Ah, Wilderness, the UK professional premier of Harvey Fierstein and John Bucchino’s Broadway musical A Catered Affair, a new celebration of Stephen Sondheim’s love songs, Just Another Love Story, and a new piece of writing, exploring the myth of celebrity that surrounds famed film-star Judy Garland.  

As an opening offer, tickets for all first three productions, Ordinary Days, Ah Wilderness and A Catered Affair, are available at the combined price of £30, only available on the London Theatre Workshop’s website.

Ordinary Days is described as a refreshingly honest and funny musical about making real connections in the city that never sleeps; as it follows four New Yorkers as they search for fulfilment, happiness love and belonging. The cast includes Oliver Watton (Olly Larkin in Channel 4’s “Hollyoaks”, Fiyero in “Wicked”, Apollo), Marcia Brown (Squeaky Fromme in Sondheim’s “Assassins”, Pleasance), Anton Tweedale and Olga-Marie Pratt.

Oliver says: "London Theatre Workshop is a brilliant concept and I am proud to be involved in the first production in its stylish new home. Ordinary Days is a fantastic modern day musical with a beautiful score."
