Good place to buy mutton in Acton

Dear All,Can anyone suggest a good place to buy mutton in Acton?I checked at few shops on high street but they sell lamb or chicken, I'm particularly interested in Mutton.Thanks,Sandeep

Yes, many superstores including Morrisons stock mutton - what I was after was also goat meat. :-) and now that is available too.

Hi Sara, Your best wishes have worked!! The new(ish) grocery store *Safa* on Acton High Street are now stocking Goat meat. It took 9 years but it was worth the wait. :)Cheers.

Hi Sandeep,Although it is not Acton, I can highly recommend Macken Brothers butchers in Turnham Green. You just need to call the day before you need it and they will get it in specially. Luckhursts is unfortunately closed until October due to the new hotel development. Maybe try AB Butchers at Ealing Common?

Tony Luckhurst in West Ealing often has goat meat -  might be able to help with the mutton too.  All his meat is local.

Ahh... now goat meat is a very different matter. Curried  goat is a traditional Caribbean dish.

Sara, somehow we find lamb always chewy and also heavy on stomach :-) I personally find mutton more flavourful and also it takes lesser time to cook than lamb.(BTW, In India, we consider goat meat as mutton.)

Why is mutton better than lamb?I would have thought older and tougher. Does it have more flavour?

Thanks Sara, I checked with hakeekat and they sell only lamb, chicken and beef. I will check at Tim English, I always have to go to ASDA in Park royal to buy one..

Doesn't Hakkekat? It has a good Halal butchers at the back.Or you could ask Tim English in Churchfield Road - if you wanted enough, maybe he would get it for you.
