Halford's site on Acton Hill

Just wondering if anyone knew what is planned for this site which turns out to be a lot larger than it looked when Halford's were there.Might be something exciting!

It was definitely a petrol station in the past - I remember buying fuel there for years...

'I haven't heard anything about a delay due to contamination which I thought was mainly related to petrol stations rather than service garages.'Just before they closed I took my car in for MOT and the receptionist certainly told me that a lot of work would have to be done to remove contamination.Presumably an 'apart-hotel' is holiday accommodation? I would prefer to see a block of flats, maybe for rent like the new tower block opposite the station.

I think this is going to be a new six storey 'apart-hotel' with 100 rooms and a cafe on the ground floor. I haven't heard anything about a delay due to contamination which I thought was mainly related to petrol stations rather than service garages. Permission was granted last August but any delay is more likely to be due to financial/market reasons.

As it was a service station they have dig down deep to remove decades of dangerous chemicals  used in servicing cars. Nothing can be built on that area of land until it is environmentally safe
