Evening opening of Acton Park

Does anybody know of any efforts being made to open Acton Park later in the evening? A family member uses Birkbeck Road as an alternative route to walk home after work if the park is closed but, after recent events, has become nervous of going that way. If the path through the park was well lit, many might find that a better option.

The general rule re parks is they open around dawn and close around sunset. For example, the gates on North Acton Playing Fields open at 7.30am and - in January - closes at 5.30pm.

I don’t think so. Isn’t it someone going round quite a few parks, so probably somewhat unknowable. It’s usually open again before dawn (not that that is much help)When I leave mum’s flat in Bryant Court soon after 0700, I think it’s already open.

Are the hours of opening published anywhere? I am aware that the gates can be unlocked until after dark but I have also arrived there at times when it was shut before it was completely dark. The unpredictability is part of the problem.

It’s open until well after dark - and from early in the morning. I quite often see it open until at least 1800/1830I doubt there are plans for longer, but it does stay open later as the daylight extends

She did experience an upsetting incident on Birkbeck Road a few months back when a man jumped out from between two parked cars and went 'boo'. He presumably thought he was being funny but it left her shaken. The thought was not that the park remain open all night but perhaps up until around 7pm when people are returning from work and there would be a steady stream walking through.

As Mr Frost says, there's no way I'd walk through Acton Park at night, even with bright blazing lighting.And I'm a fit, well built, able bodied male.But I'm (hopefuly) not stupid.  😁

Unless she is frequenting the barber at 0400 of a Sunday morning, not much to worry about.Poor man wasn’t killed on Birkbeck Road…. He staggered to the corner there and died. Not aware of plans to open park at night but I’d feel much more nervous - unless on a bike.

The park is/would be far more dangerous to walk through.
