Amazon lorry wipes out bollards in Acton Gardens

To be fair to Amazon they say they will pay for the repairs. Video from LagerCAN. ⁦@amazon⁩ ⁦@EalingCouncil⁩ this was witnessed this morning by one of our members. I am so grateful that you filmed this incident. They used to say that the pen is mightier than the sword. I think for our current times, it’s the phone that’s mightier than the sword! How dare Amazon drivers destroy our local areas. I’d suggest you also post this video on X (formerly Twitter) and other public social platforms

My understanding was that most freight companies had SatNav systems that directed their vehicles away from suitable roads. If Amazon has their drivers using Google Maps, then it needs a rethink.

Build better bollards!  If the idea of them was to protect people from exactly that event, then they were nothing like strong enough. One might ask why such a vehicle was trying to negotiate that narrow residential road and tricky corner.  I'd have thought truck-navs would avoid such roads.  What route was it planning?  Do we have a secret Amazon depot in the South Acton industrial estate?  Is this what we'll have to get used to with increased 'investment for growth' from such large international companies?
