Gunnersbury Park Grime protest song

That just isn't accurate. As an experienced wildlife gardener myself, the type of planting undertaken and the creation of habitats significantly increases biodiversity. At Gunnersbury Park since it it became the CIC and now a charity it has; planted many new hedgerows providing essential cover to insects and birds, created an orchard when previously an impenetrable thicket existed and which attracts pollinators in their droves, created new long herbaceous borders, worked hard to sustain and create new wild flower meadows, developed shaded and Mediterranean gardens. So good management and leadership with a strong and clear vision has had a direct impact on the biodiversity in the park. My own garden is open to the public under the NGS each year and Gunnersbury has been a source of inspiration. Well done Gunnersbury!

I have no idea about this particular CIC, however with many, when you look more closely at their "Expenses", you often open Pandora's Box and find a whole can of oily worms........

This has nothng to do with which spieces of wildlife live in the park.That was the same before all the changes.

The song doesn't represent the Gunnersbury Park I know. I volunteer there and visitors regularly comment on how lovely it looks, and how much they enjoy the planting in the beds. My Gunnersbury Park has glorious birdsong, newts and toads, abundant bees and dragonflies, ducklings and cygnets on the boating lake. It also is regularly awarded a Green Flag, and was awarded a Gold for London in Bloom in 2021. The summer concerts are a major source of income to maintain the park and the mansions for the benefit of all. The park is run by a not-for-profit CIC, it is not an 'enterprise'.

and no doubt adequately funded then which sadly isn't the case now, parks and recreation are the first services to be cut when local government finances are under pressure and they are currently flashing red, given this background Gunnersbury's management is astute.

The facilities in the park in the 70's and 80's were next to none.It was a fantastic public space with multiple football pitches,a bowling green,the best pitch and putt course you could ever see,tennis courts,a museum,a boating lake, a fishing lake and free parking.

The Park has never looked better - the gardening team have done a phenomenal job in improving the general look and environment of the park, the sporting facilities are first rate, the Museum is a wonderful resource with genuinely interesting exhibits, the coffee vendors serve delicious  coffee and I can't wait for the coffee shop/restaurant to reopen. The park is run by a charity and has to make up funding shortfalls so of course it has to raise money. The people who don't like the improvements don't appear to have any constructive alternatives to sustain the park financially and by the way it is a borough resource not a private fiefdom.
