Post office services on the High Street

Post Office in the High Street We need your help. The Post Office has been monitoring the number of visits to the Banking Hub on the High Street and that ends at the end of this month.Please, please visit the Banking Hub before then so the numbers counted are as high as we can make them.You can take out money from most banks at the counter, or deposit cash.  You can see your Banker if they are one of the five who visit every week. We have been begging and pleading for additional Post Office services like holiday money,  but everything depends on numbers using the present service. Please, please!

The charming Post office staff are rightly annoyed by the Telegraph piece. They conclude the reporter might have been having a bad  day.  In other news HSBC will replace Nationwide from 16th January. Good news I think.

There was a story in the Telegraph yesterday about banking hubs. The headline was “I went to a banking hub - only five people turned up”. Yes, it was the Acton one. The writer did interview an Acton resident who said she used it every couple of weeks, but mostly it was a pretty negative article.

Yes you can pay in cash to any one of the 34 banks in the scheme. The Mosque does so every week. Are you having a problem?

I do not believe the banking hub is of any use to charities or businesses as you are not able to pay in cash there? It is only for personal customers?

I bank at Nationwide, so there's absolutely nothing I want or need from this hub. What I need is a bloody post office, and if there was one there I'd be visiting it pretty regularly.

If you have time to look at the W4 forum for Chiswick you will see the flight of the banks continues on that lovely High Street. Numbers matter to Bwnks. Im sure the everlasting roadworks dont help. Please call in to our Hub.

Thank you. We are attempting to persuade the Post Office to provide services on the High Street. Currently their criteria is the numbers of people using the Banking Hub. That's the reason for the headline. So please please pop in before 30th November. We need the ammunition.

On the other hand, I have tried to visit several times but the queue was too long... eventually managed to deposit a cheque yesterday when I will admit I was the only customer, though two people had arrived by the time I left. Very variable.Headline of this thread a tad misleading: the one thing they don't offer is post office services. I've heard a number of people ask for stamps or to post a parcel. The fact that it is run by the post office but doesn't offer appropriate services is very confusing to many...

Last time I passed it there was no one in there and a bored-looking assistant was standing gloomily in the doorway.
