Is Acton a big winner from the HS2 Debacle?

If you want to be glass half full you could look at what has happened as the government spending billions on linking our area with Birmingham.The travel time to Old Oak Common will be 42 minutes, less if you board at the airport stop so large swathes of Warwickshire countryside will be within commuting distance of London.Given that lots of jobs don't require you to work a full 5 days in the office, living in Birmingham and working in London just became very doable. Relative property prices means that your standard of living will probably be higher even allowing for rail fares.This must surely deliver a very substantial boost to west London as suddenly a huge new pool of Labour becomes available.Looking in the opposite direction, Birmingham airport suddenly become easier to get from here than Gatwick, Luton and Stansted.

There doesn't seem to be any end to what some people will blame Brexit for. All the money the EU has is from its member states; the EU currently does not have the ability to raise taxes directly from EU citizens or to borrow. The UK was a net contributor to the EU so leaving it cannot have affected the ability to fund it. The difference is that it has become increasingly clear that HS2 is going to cost much more than was originally budgeted, hence attempts to cut costs.

Do you write travel off to tax?I don't know how many millions of tons of concrete has been poured but Park Royal & North Action have the highest pollution rates in the UK as a result.The original proposal was for 50,000 new homes. Until Sadiq Khan and his cronies stepped in.

Sadly, Brexit put paid to any Overground connection with Old Oak Common as the new stations were to be funded by the EU.

As I understood it there would be a HS2 stop at NEC/Birmingham Airport as well as Curzon Street. I may be going by out of date maps.As for the interchange, the last I read there would be a link with the Elizabeth Line but it would be quite a walk to the HS2 platform. I don't know what impact this might have on Acton Mainline schedules but I'm sure they will be tempted to increase the express services from Heathrow at the expense of stopping services.

Whatever happens, it will be seized upon as an excuse for a LOT more Towers.To ensure that Acton retains its new & front running position as the Bumhole of the Universe.

I understood there is to be a major interchange at Old Oak Common between HS2 and the Elizabeth Line and possibly the GWR line and maybe even the Overground. Some say this will provide better connectivity than at Euston at less cost, as Acton becomes the centre of the known Universe!

HS2 has no planned stops between Old Oak Common and Birmingham; Warwick residents will probably still find it quicker to take the train to Marylebone than go to Bham to switch to HS2.West London will probably benefit as these line usually between the capital at the expense of the regional city.

There isn’t yet a station at Old Oak Common is there? Or a linking capacity?And do we know if there are any implications for the Acton Mainline. Service?
