FED AND WATERED GONE!

Owner just posted on Instagram. Shutters down, ovens off. Gutted. Unfortunately this is what happens when locals don’t support a business. Real shame as the food was incredible, but was more of a special occasion restaurant. Churchfield road will suffer losing this place.

Sign outside says it is only open for drinks a few nights a week (Wednesday to Saturday if I remember correctly) until a formal relaunch in a few weeks.I heard elsewhere that it is the same owner and he plans a new name and simpler menu. A simpler menu - and I assume lower prices - might mean we can persuade our teenages to try it over burger and pizza at the Churchfield (or is it the Station House?)

I walked past at lunchtime today and it remained shuttered with no sign of rebranding to 'Poets'. Web site says it is a bar only for the time being in the evenings. Best guess would be that landlord has done a deal to allow some sort of continued operation. In the current environment might be challenging to get a new tenant.

Fed and watered has reopened for drinks Tuesday to Saturday. Some relaxed dining coming. Sharing plates I'm told. Renamed Poet's. Can't think why. Early days for them. I wish them well.

I was very fond of Fed and Watered.  It was a real destination restaurant and deserved to survive.  So, is there anywhere else in Acton/Ealing to compare?  Somewhere else of similar quality that we should all support before it goes the same way as F&W?Unless and until somewhere else more local emerges I’d like to recommend Silver Birch on Chiswick High Road.  It’s only a short E3 trip away.  It is serving Michelin star quality food at non-Michelin prices.  Check out the ChiswickW4 forum, put Silver Birch into the search engine to discover how universally admired it is.  It too deserves to survive.But I would dearly love to learn of somewhere similar in W3!

Such a shame. Acton is trying so hard to improve and move "up", but just seems to get stymied time and again .......
