Boots Closing

When Boots announced recently that they were closing a number of stores, I thought that Acton was a likely candidate. I didn't expect it to be so soon, though. It closes on August 15th. I shall have to find somewhere else to get my flu jab done this year.

I stopped using that Boots a while ago, as I always found it substandard as a Boots and as a chemist. I switched my allegiance to Zahra with its convenient hours and great, hardworking staff and haven't looked back.

I now use Zehra (opposite the Town Hall ) great service with a smile and efficient .

The original Waitrose was in Acton.  Mr Waite, Mr Rose and Mr Taylor opened a grocery shop at 263 Acton Hill (approximately opposite the police station) in 1903, which went on to become Waitrose.

It wasn’t a good Boots tbh. Combination of Zahra (good and lovely indie open all hours) and Savers serves us well.I always found the Boots under-stocked and surly.

It w2asn't Mr Boots great great great great great grandson running it though was it,just some American investment company who sucked the life out of it.

Boots should be modernising not closing stores.I think they bought Underwoods in the 80's which had modern window displays then. You are not able to see into most Boots stores from the outside.

It simply wasn't competitive with SuperDrug, Savers and Holland and Barrett nearby. When it was incorporated into the Old Oaks shopping centre we would pop in but I can't remember the last time I went inside.

Yes, it is a shame, and I suspect it's for the same reasons that you'll never see a Waitrose, M & S or similar in Acton for quite some time yet.
